Fall Creek Falls in Umqua National Forest

Hey Everypawdy! We just uploaded a video of our hike to Fall Creek Falls, here in Oregon, with Apollo and Berenice as our travelers.

A 3-hour car ride to our destination, Berenice was confident to take on the 2 mile trek in total, to the end of the trail and back. Apollo was the perfect candidate to come along with us, since he prefers to travel via cat backpack or on top, watching the trail as we walk through. This hike was not only beautiful, and a lovely sight at the end of it, but also Berenice’s first hike since before we learned she was expecting. She walked like a pro, and I’m hoping she enjoyed it as much as we did.

Feel free to check out the video on our YouTube channel! Take care everypawdy.

Forever Home

UPDATE JULY 12TH: Anastasia has found her forever home here in Oregon, with a wonderful family who share Czech roots just like her. Thank you to all who inquired!

UPDATE JULY 9TH: We’ve received many inquires and applications for Anastasia, and are no longer accepting any more for her. We will be interviewing families one-by-one, and emailing everyone who inquired once a home is found. Thank you to all of you who have offered this sweet girl a place in your heart and home!

Hey Everypawdy! Anastasia is still looking for her furever home!

She’s a playful and loving kitten. Her favorite toy is a rabbit fur that we have, and she enjoys throwing it in the air and jumping for it. She has quite a lot of energy! But even so, we hope to find a family with a quieter home. She follows, and observes us as we move about the house, completing chores. She talks whenever in the kitchen, and rubs against our ankles, in hopes of something tasty to eat. Anastasia has quite a picky pallet, so our hope is to find new parents that are patient and happy to cater to this little floof!

Golden Eyed Queen

We would happily keep Annie as part of our pack, but given how social she is, she demands more attention than our other kitties. It would be unfair of us to deny her a home of her own, where she could receive more cuddles and attention than in our care. She constantly enjoys sitting with us, no matter what we’re up to. It’s as if she always wants to be included in the things we do! She also really loves when you play with her, she’ll jump and chase till she’s panting! And even still, she tries to carry on, so we usually have to hide toys to let her have a break.

Annie with siblings

She has golden amber eyes like her mom, and long tufted ears with defined lynx tips. Her kitten coat has already begun to shed, as she prepares for Summer, but her winter coat will come in later in the year.

She has already been spayed, microchipped, & current with vaccinations FVRCP, and rabies.

We would also like Annie’s future family to know, that our wish is to stay in contact and keep up with her adventures in her new home. Whether its adding/following them on social media, or sending emails with updates… we would be honored and grateful to be a part of her journey, the same as we are with all her siblings.

When a kitten leaves our cattery, they take a piece of our heart with them, as we raised them since birth. Our hope is that each kitten settles into their new home with as little stress as possible, and brings your family a bit of magic with their loving and caring personality. ♥

Myself, and Annie at 14 weeks old – She was so floofy!

Waterfall Hike with Albert and Apollo

We love getting a chance to go out, and see the beautiful world around us. In Oregon there’s so many special places to see and explore! Since our national parks started opening up slowly, we decided to take a two hour road trip to Umpqua National Forest, with kittens Albert and Apollo. This was their first long car ride, as well as their first time hiking up to a waterfall.

They did exceptionally well, and the four of us had some great fun! Check out our recent footage on YouTube of our adventure together.

Harness Training Albert and Apollo

Norwegietale’s Albert and Apollo

Two of our boys have started harness training in our backyard, and have been doing wonderfully. They love tree climbing, and running through the grass! So we went ahead and took them on their first walk at the park. Check out our video on YouTube to see little snippets of their first time out in the world! I think they’re both going to make wonderful adventure kitties, just like their parents. What do you think about making the brothers their own Instagram eventually to share their future adventures with the adventure cat community?

As a small disclosure here, to those that wonder. Norwegian Forest cats don’t have to have access to outside to have a fulfilled happy life. Just like every other cat, they are completely happy with an indoor life only. Cats who never experience the outside world, will never know they’re missing it.

Our cats, we like to take on walks with a harness/leash, or in our cat backpack. This is only if it’s a comfortable and an enjoyable experience for them. Cats walk differently than dogs do, they like to stop and smell a brush once in a while, or they’ll keep walking till they find something that interests them. Some cats barely walk and prefer sitting in the grass, listening to birds, and enjoying the breeze. It’s important to know that once you start harness training a cat, to be sure you’ll be able to be consistent as your cat will more than likely want to be outside more often.

Happy Holiday Weekend!

From Norwegietale’s kittens, we are wishing everyone a happy holiday! We hope everyone is safe and healthy during this time, spending the weekend with their loved ones! Best wishes, from our fur family to yours.

Happy Five Weeks to Our Litter A!

Litter A, born on January 15th 2020, is officially five weeks old! It feels weird calling them Litter A, when they all have their own personalities and special spots reserved in our hearts. We want to keep all of them! I worry this is perhaps every breeder’s struggle. I was there nights before their birth, scared, and expecting as much as their Momma Berenice probably was. When she woke me in the early hours on a Wednesday, I prepared for a long birth with our first litter. Berenice was amazing! She didn’t make a sound, and every half hour a kitten came. I was there when each kitten was born, stimulating breathing, gently cleaning, and clipping a umbilical cord, or two when Mom was too busy. We were expecting eight kittens, but the last one didn’t make it. I was so devastated I had failed that one kitten, and so scared I would fail the rest of them.

Now after many hours awake, bottle feeding, checking the nursery temperature, and vet appointments when I was unsure, we’ve made it to five weeks! Everything is suddenly more peaceful as all the kittens happily play around, and cuddle in our laps. We see each one of them grow into their own personalities, develop their own quirks, or taste of meat when it comes to wet food. They are each their own tiny cat already, I cry often when I watch them! One day they will all be passed on to their forever homes, and I hope they will be loved as much as I feel we love them all now. Since having their beautiful presence in our life, I can’t imagine it quiet again. To not hear the kittens call excitedly when we enter the kitten nursery, or watch them come at you in a hoard of fluff and cuteness. It will be so sad when I can’t look down at my lap, and see Apollo or Albert looking up back at me like I’m their world. But enough melancholy. We are so happy our babies are five weeks old today, and thriving!

Thank you everyone who’s been following our journey, and who will continue doing so. Our little ones are so special to us, and I’m sure their families after us will feel the same.

To many more happy, beautiful, kitten-filled weeks!

Berenice and Norman's First Litter

Norman Aksarah Bhutani *CZ nfo n 02 & Berenice Amber Wald *CZ nfo 02 21 62

Our beautiful Berenice, had her kittens! We have 7 healthy babies, and Berenice has been a wonderful first time Momma. 🧡🧡

The night she was in labor, she woke me up by jumping in bed with me, and crawling under the blanket beside me, crying. I was lucky to be there by her side throughout her whole birth, and she did so wonderfully! Within 5hrs all babies were delivered, and she didn’t make a peep. I wish there was a better way to express to everyone how much I love my baby Beru. Though I am proud and excited to have our first litter as an official Norwegian Forest Cat Cattery, I miss my Berenice needing her momma. She is so independent right now with her kittens, she gives me this look whenever I start weighing them, or she licks my hand when I touch one. Like “I like you Mom, but don’t touch too much.”

I want to thank the wonderful people who helped me prepare for our Berenice’s pregnancy and birthing, as well as help give advice for our little kittens now. And to also thank them for continuously still being there when I need them. Thank you Amber Wald*CZ, LostWoods, and EndelosGlede, for helping me on this journey! A special thank you to our wonderful vet Dr. Meredith! And to so many other breeders/cat enthusiasts who have supported me, whether I was just reaching out with questions, or they adding me on social media so I could reach out. I would also like to thank my husband for being on this journey with me, and his mom, who keeps an eye on our kitten cam when we’re sleeping, to make sure everyone’s still doing okay.

There’s still so much for me to learn, and I look forward to all that’s ahead on this journey! For now I’ll be struggling going back to work and occasionally sitting next to Berenice’s nesting box, jealous of the babies who have my wonderful baby as a mom. ❤️
