Hey Everypawdy! We just uploaded a video of our hike to Fall Creek Falls, here in Oregon, with Apollo and Berenice as our travelers.
A 3-hour car ride to our destination, Berenice was confident to take on the 2 mile trek in total, to the end of the trail and back. Apollo was the perfect candidate to come along with us, since he prefers to travel via cat backpack or on top, watching the trail as we walk through. This hike was not only beautiful, and a lovely sight at the end of it, but also Berenice’s first hike since before we learned she was expecting. She walked like a pro, and I’m hoping she enjoyed it as much as we did.
Feel free to check out the video on our YouTube channel! Take care everypawdy.

We love getting a chance to go out, and see the beautiful world around us. In Oregon there’s so many special places to see and explore! Since our national parks started opening up slowly, we decided to take a two hour road trip to Umpqua National Forest, with kittens Albert and Apollo. This was their first long car ride, as well as their first time hiking up to a waterfall.
They did exceptionally well, and the four of us had some great fun! Check out our recent footage on YouTube of our adventure together.
From Norwegietale’s kittens, we are wishing everyone a happy holiday! We hope everyone is safe and healthy during this time, spending the weekend with their loved ones! Best wishes, from our fur family to yours.
Litter A, born on January 15th 2020, is officially five weeks old! It feels weird calling them Litter A, when they all have their own personalities and special spots reserved in our hearts. We want to keep all of them! I worry this is perhaps every breeder’s struggle. I was there nights before their birth, scared, and expecting as much as their Momma Berenice probably was. When she woke me in the early hours on a Wednesday, I prepared for a long birth with our first litter. Berenice was amazing! She didn’t make a sound, and every half hour a kitten came. I was there when each kitten was born, stimulating breathing, gently cleaning, and clipping a umbilical cord, or two when Mom was too busy. We were expecting eight kittens, but the last one didn’t make it. I was so devastated I had failed that one kitten, and so scared I would fail the rest of them.
Now after many hours awake, bottle feeding, checking the nursery temperature, and vet appointments when I was unsure, we’ve made it to five weeks! Everything is suddenly more peaceful as all the kittens happily play around, and cuddle in our laps. We see each one of them grow into their own personalities, develop their own quirks, or taste of meat when it comes to wet food. They are each their own tiny cat already, I cry often when I watch them! One day they will all be passed on to their forever homes, and I hope they will be loved as much as I feel we love them all now. Since having their beautiful presence in our life, I can’t imagine it quiet again. To not hear the kittens call excitedly when we enter the kitten nursery, or watch them come at you in a hoard of fluff and cuteness. It will be so sad when I can’t look down at my lap, and see Apollo or Albert looking up back at me like I’m their world. But enough melancholy. We are so happy our babies are five weeks old today, and thriving!
Thank you everyone who’s been following our journey, and who will continue doing so. Our little ones are so special to us, and I’m sure their families after us will feel the same.
To many more happy, beautiful, kitten-filled weeks!
Our beautiful Berenice, had her kittens! We have 7 healthy babies, and Berenice has been a wonderful first time Momma. 🧡🧡
The night she was in labor, she woke me up by jumping in bed with me, and crawling under the blanket beside me, crying. I was lucky to be there by her side throughout her whole birth, and she did so wonderfully! Within 5hrs all babies were delivered, and she didn’t make a peep. I wish there was a better way to express to everyone how much I love my baby Beru. Though I am proud and excited to have our first litter as an official Norwegian Forest Cat Cattery, I miss my Berenice needing her momma. She is so independent right now with her kittens, she gives me this look whenever I start weighing them, or she licks my hand when I touch one. Like “I like you Mom, but don’t touch too much.”
I want to thank the wonderful people who helped me prepare for our Berenice’s pregnancy and birthing, as well as help give advice for our little kittens now. And to also thank them for continuously still being there when I need them. Thank you Amber Wald*CZ, LostWoods, and EndelosGlede, for helping me on this journey! A special thank you to our wonderful vet Dr. Meredith! And to so many other breeders/cat enthusiasts who have supported me, whether I was just reaching out with questions, or they adding me on social media so I could reach out. I would also like to thank my husband for being on this journey with me, and his mom, who keeps an eye on our kitten cam when we’re sleeping, to make sure everyone’s still doing okay.
There’s still so much for me to learn, and I look forward to all that’s ahead on this journey! For now I’ll be struggling going back to work and occasionally sitting next to Berenice’s nesting box, jealous of the babies who have my wonderful baby as a mom. ❤️
